Rev. Richard Murphy III was licensed to preach the gospel in February of 1984 at the Union Missionary Baptist Church by the Pastor Rev. J.L. Freeman, his ministerial work began in 1990 whereas he became the founder and organizer of Teen Scenes Inc. Outreach ministry and Teen Scenes Community Center. He faithfully served this position until1996. He has been honored by the Union Missionary Baptist Church, The Lithonia Civic League, Police Department, Business Associations, The Dekalb County Probation Department, Judges, and many others.
Rev. Murphy has received many accomplishments and awards. On May 30, 1992 he was aired on TBS 17 Super Station as Citizen of The Week. October 17, 1992 he was awarded the NAACP youth services award for outstanding support of the youth in the community. September 10, 1994 he was awarded by the National Council of Negro Women Inc. The Mary McLeod Bethune award for Community Outreach work. He served as councilman for the city of Lithonia for twelve years.
In November1996 Rev. Murphy was called to pastor his first church, The Springfield Missionary Baptist church in Newborn, Ga. where he served faithfully for five years. He was installed as pastor on February 23, 1997, on that same date he received a proclamation from the Mayor of Lithonia and the Commissioners of Dekalb County designating that date as the Rev. Richard Murphy III day both in the city of Lithonia and the county of Dekalb.
The highlight of his career was when he appeared on national television on the talk show Between The Lines, where he gave God the glory and the honor for everything he had done in his life. He stated with God in my life I am everything but without him I am nothing, he also stated I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
In December of 2001 God elevated Rev. Murphy to the next level of his ministry with a vision to organize and pastor The United Praise Christian Center in Covington, GA. On September 8, 2002 he was consecrated as an Apostle and currently serving as the Apostle of The United Praise Christian Center and the Apostle Walk Broadcast, where he is supported in this ministry with his loving wife Sister Frances Murphy and their three children.
